Sources of Pollution
Pine wood, paper, metal, resin · 2026

We live surrounded by an overwhelming amount of information: elevator advertisements, street posters, shopping mall announcements, phone notifications, and constantly updating screens all compete for our attention. As these messages repeat, overlap, and appear simultaneously, their original meaning begins to dissolve, leaving behind a continuous form of noise.
This project transforms that invisible pressure into physical objects with weight and volume. I collect sounds from urban environments and translate their waveforms, frequencies, rhythms, and intensities into three-dimensional sculptures, turning sound into something that can be seen and physically experienced.
The installation consists of five sculptures: three larger works placed on the floor and two smaller works suspended above the viewer. The floor-based sculptures act like accumulated information that has already settled and solidified within the environment. The suspended works reference the Sword of Damocles. Hanging overhead, they do not create immediate danger, but maintain a constant sense of potential pressure, similar to advertisements, notifications, and media that are always ready to interrupt our attention.
The surfaces of the sculptures are based on torn street advertisements. I scan and layer their text, phone numbers, colors, and damaged paper textures, then transfer these images onto the sculptures. Sound forms the body of each object, while advertisements become its skin, compressing visual and auditory information into the same physical form.
Ultimately, the project examines the relationship between attention and information. When information actively searches for us rather than waiting for us to seek it out, are we still consuming information, or are we simply living inside the noise it creates?
